A postcode you type in

When you use the postcode door, your browser sends the postcode to postcodes.io (https://api.postcodes.io) to find the council for it. This site does not receive the postcode, does not store it, and does not put it in any web address on this site.

Search, comparisons and downloads

Council-name and site searches run in your browser. Search terms are not sent to a search provider or saved in a URL. The site search downloads a static index when you use it.

Comparison links contain council identifiers, a tax band and a financial year. Share links contain only these selections, never a postcode. Sharing uses your device's share menu or copies a link. CSV files are created in your browser from the published figures and include their sources.

Hosting and calculators

No analytics beacon is enabled. The hosting provider may process routine request information to serve and protect the site. Future-cost calculations run in your browser; share links contain the council, band, assumed percentage and number of years, never household financial details.

What this site does not do

This site sets no cookies and asks for no personal information. It has no accounts and no forms that send anything to it.

A saved colour theme

If you choose light or dark, the choice is saved in your own browser under the name ukcounciltax-theme and is never sent anywhere.
